One Womans Quest To Stop Teenage Smoking

In 1992, Debi Austin had a laryngectomy after she was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx.

Austin had smoked her first cigarette at 13 and, even after surgery, remained a two- to three-pack-a-day smoker. Debi Austin's 1997 TV commercial, in which she smoked through the laryngectomy hole in her throat, was just the beginning of her mission.
